Graduation Week ▲

Thursday, April 28

Oh my gosh I feel so out of the loop in the blog world! I can't wait til I have some time to sit down and catch up on all my reading! I want to know what you guys are doing! Anyway, here's another DULL picture heavy post. I graduate from college TOMORROW!

Me and the Feef at dinner with our families in Aiken on Tuesday
Aunt B and Me at the Stadium in Tallahassee tonight.

Happy Easter! ▲

Sunday, April 24

So, one of my favesies, Krystal, is hosting a GIVEAWAY. She made a b-e-a-utiful headband and I hope I wiiiiiiiiin. Go ENTER at her blog.

I hope everyone had a marvelous weekend. I did! My parents are in town, and today we hiked up to "Proposal Rock" (AKA Looking Glass Rock) so that I could show them where Mike and I got engaged.

Proposal Rock, as I am now officially calling it.

The weather was much better today than it was when Mike and I went up there. But before we even got half-way up, a group of people came down and told us there was a RATTLE SNAKE on the trail, so they'd turned around and come back down. Yick. I hate snakes, but I really wanted to show my parents the top of the mountain. So we forged on. And EVERY STINKING ROOT that was sticking out of the trail suddenly looked like a giant, fanged, rattle snake. It was a long climb. We never saw a snake.

Me sitting where Mike and I sat on Wednesday.
 Another view...
Hmmm...let me climb 3 miles up a mountain and then do some yoga...
 I loooove it  =)
Proof that my mom made it to the top.
About to head down.

I'm just still so excited that I get to marry the greatest guy on the face of the planet, my best friend in the universe, and spend the rest of my life testing his limits!

Busy busy busy! ▲

Saturday, April 23

So, like I've been talking about for the past several days, my parents get in town today! Then we pack up my Asheville abode, drive to SC Wednesday for the night, and Tallahassee on Thursday. I probably won't be a very good blogger this week, so I'm sorry!

Here's a picture of me and the Feef.

And my birthday flowers:

Yep, we're engaged! ▲

Thursday, April 21

So, yesterday was the most amazing birthday EVER, to say the least. Mike drove up and surprised me at the office with flowers AND a giant cookie cake. I was thrilled because I thought I'd be spending my 22nd alone. I had plans to go running in the afternoon and possibly get a mani/pedi. But NOPE. Instead I was whisked away to do some super awesome birthday surprises.

In the office with my flowers!
Mr. Sneaky.
First, let me just say that my mother almost BLEW the whole thing on Tuesday by accidentally texting something to me that was meant for Mike regarding our plans, but luckily Mike is a smarty pants and he managed to cover it up.
Zeee cake, nom nom nom
So after sharing the cake with everyone in the office, we went to lunch at Bier Garden, one of my fave places in Asheville. I had a birthday glass of white zinfandel, and tried to get Mike to spill the beans about what the rest of the day's plans were. No such luck. All I could get out of him was that I needed to put tennis shoes on.

We went home so I could change clothes. Then he revealed that we were going exploring at Pisgah National Forest. Weeee! I love exploring. We drove around on the Blue Ridge Parkway to get there, stopping at some overlooks. It was pretty cloudy, though, so I didn't get any real spectacular pictures. We got to where the trail began and Mike told me it was 3.1 miles up and 3.1 miles down. We tackled it in less than 2 hours, and even though it was rough & steep & I was basically melting with sweat, it was sooo worth it.

Me at the beginning of the trail
Mike had to carry this huge day pack the whole time. It mainly had my camera bag, tripod, change of shoes, and sweatshirt in it. Hehehe.
The last leg
Made it to the top!
Then we set up my tripod and started taking pictures. This isn't out of the ordinary because I LOVE getting photoshoots of the two of us. Mike hauled my tripod all the way up the mountain, AND my camera bag. =)

This one is out of focus but OH WELL.
We took a few pictures, and then Mike decided to take a couple where I was sitting on his knee. This was fine until my remote decided to stop working, so I stood up to see if I could get it to register.

Yep. When I turned around, he had assumed the position and the box was out.

It took a few seconds for me to register what was going on. He said his speech, which apparently was nothing like what he had rehearsed (but it was still wonderful), and I said OF COURSE! And no, before you ask, I didn't cry. Which surprises me. I cry at EVERYTHING. I think I was just too surprised. And happy. And I just wanted to say yes and get the dang rock on my finger. Guys, it's BEAUTIFUL!

I could NOT be happier. My fingers were swollen from the hike so it was a little snug at first, ha ha.

Then we sat and enjoyed the amazing panoramic views. We watched the falcons flying around on the wind and talked about how he LIED to me all morning long so he could pull off the surprise.

As you can imagine, I am BEYOND thrilled.
We spent the whole 3.1 miles down talking about how this had all been planned. He spoke to my parents on the phone last week and asked for their blessing. Since my dad is in Italy, it was kind of impossible to do it in person. My dad actually flew back into the states yesterday, and we skyped with them last night when we got home. I can't believe my mom kept the secret for a whole WEEK.

This was about half way down.

After the hike, there was one more surprise left. DINNER! We ate at Pisgah Inn, a beautiful mountainside restaurant near Brevard. I had another glass of white zin and Mike had his typical dark beer (gross). I always optimistically try what he's drinking and never like it. The view from our table was FABULOUS.

I even got a free desert when Mike told them it was my Bday AND we'd just gotten engaged.
So, it was a pretty fantastic Wednesday. Maybe the best in the history of Wednesdays. I can't believe he pulled off such a HUGE surprise. I was not expecting this at all, and even though we've been discussing engagement, I really didn't think it would all come together yesterday. But I'm so glad it did!

He had to drive back to Aiken this morning because he has work, so I'm sad about that. But my parents are coming to town on Saturday, we're packing up my room here in Asheville, and then on Wednesday we're driving down to Aiken before heading to Tallahassee for graduation. So I only have to wait 6 days before I see him again, and then this long distance relationship is OFFICIALLY OVER. So I guess I have a wedding to plan?

Thank you for all of the birthday wishes yesterday, y'all are GREAT.

It's my birthday! ▲

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Spring ▲

Tuesday, April 19

While we spent a lot of Saturday going through Mike's stuff, hauling things to the dump, and arguing about what to eat, Mike and I did get to spend a little time appreciating the gorgeous weather. I love when it's hot in the spring time, but the humidity hasn't set in quite yet. The fur babies spent some time soaking up the warmth, too.

Bella loves when we leave the front door open so she can roam around in the front yard for a change. She doesn't leave the yard. She just finds a nice sunny spot in the grass to lay and soak up some vitamin D.

Buffalo got locked up in Mike's bedroom so that she wouldn't get out of the house while we were loading his truck (she's an indoor kitty). She wasn't happy at first because she wants to be around us 24/7, but once she discovered the window was open, she was happy.

I love this picture of Bella's muzzle. She's such a goof ball.

So, It's Monday ▲

Monday, April 18

This is probably the most excited I've been about a Monday in the recent past. First of all, it's my birthday week! (cue happy dance) Secondly, Thursday is my last day of work at the magazine, which kind of equates to my last day of college...ever. Thirdly, my magnificent parents get into Asheville on Saturday, and even though I have two final exams to take next Monday, I just feel like today is the beginning of an AMAZING few months.

On May 5th, Mike and I are going to Wyoming for a week. When we get back, life turns into a whirlwind of packing up my life in Florida and moving it to South Carolina. And then it's summer, and I plan on LIVING in my bikini while simultaneously attempting to find gainful employment.

Yesterday, another intern and I spent the afternoon in the office channeling our inner five-year-olds and trying to put together a bulletin board as a surprise for our supervisor. It took us more than 4 hours to complete a rather lackluster final product, but OH WELL. I'm usually pretty crafty, but for some reason it just wasn't coming together.

This is in the beginning stages.

Hope everyone has a splendid Monday!

Last few days in Asheville ▲

Sunday, April 17

I'm leaving Asheville in a little over a week. It's kind of sad. I didn't do nearly as much exploring as I wanted to. Oh well. Just an excuse to come back and visit.

Visiting Italy ▲

Saturday, April 16

Some of you might know that my dad lives in Naples, Italy.

Mike and I took a trip to visit in December last year. I'm not sure if I ever did a post about it, but here are some pictures from our adventures in Rome.

ABCs of Me ▲

Friday, April 15

So this little thangy thang has been circulating on a lot of my favorite blogs, so I'm going to do it, mainly because it's Friday, which means after work I'm heading down to Aiken for one last weekend with Mike before all of the graduation festivities begin.

I really enjoy this pic of Mike for some reason, even though he looks mad at me, and there's a giant lens flare on his head.

Age: 21 (but only until Wednesday!)
Bed size: Queen.
Chore you hate: Doing the dishes! Yick.
Dogs: Bella - Malinois/Chow mix & adorably retarded.
Essential start of your day: First thing I do when I get up is go pee. Then I brush my teeth. And then I eat breakfast, usually some yoghurt with Kashi Go Lean cereal.
Favorite color: Green, but not forest green, more the bluey shades of green, like turquoise, mint, and light teal. But I also like lime.
Gold or silver: I'm not a huge fan of gold, but I'd opt for white gold over silver.
Height: 5'9" depending on the day. Sometimes I'm taller.
Instruments I play (or have played): Clarinet and Violin.
Job title: Blissfully unemployed.
Kids: One day.
Live: Asheville, NC. Until this summer when I'm making the transition to live-in girlfriend in Aiken, SC.
Mom's name: Patricia.
Nickname: I've never had a nickname. =( Anna is just too simple of a name. Of course I got the usual Anna Banana and a multitude of pet names from family. My Godmother calls me Babycakes and Girl-Kid. Mike calls me Baby. My mom calls me Sweetpea or Pumpkin, among other things.
Overnight hospital stays: Not that I'm aware of. I had a spinal tap when I was a baby.
Pet peeve: Loud eating and inconsiderate people in general.
Quote from a movie: "I'm not going to call him Dad. Even if there's a fire."
Right or left handed: Right.
Siblings: Just moi. Princess of the castle.
Time you wake up: For work, around 8:30. On the weekends, whenever Mike and I get tired of lounging around in the bed.
Underwear: Yes? I love me some panties, all styles. Granny panties are comfy but ridiculous looking. Mike likes boy shorts. Thongs avoid panty lines. I just love undies.
Vegetables you dislike: Onions unless they're fried. I won't eat okra. Or asparagus. Or collards.
What makes you run late: Bad hair days!
X-rays you've had done: I think I got my wrist x-rayed once. And I had an MRI when I first started getting migraines.
Yummy food you make: I think my macaroni and cheese with sausage is pretty delish. It's my mom's recipe.
Zoo animal: Otters. Or Meerkats. Or LIONS and TIGERS. And Panda Bears. A seals. ALL OF THEM!!!!

New Record? ▲

I think this might be the longest I've stuck with a blog design. I'm starting to get antsy though. The pink isn't doing it for me anymore. I'm thinking turquoise, or coral. Or BOTH. I also kind of miss having a traditional banner...

We'll see. I have ZERO to say today. Other than I'm hungry. I've eaten Taco Bell and Wendy's for dinner two nights in a row so it's looking like vegetables are on the menu tonight. Yawn. I just want cheese. Pasta. Wine. Anything other than healthy.

What I'm Hating Wednesday ▲

Wednesday, April 13

How is it only Wednesday? I feel like this is the 9th day of the week. Buuut my birthday is in 7 days =)

I had a tiny mental breakdown on Monday. It was one of those days where every little thing went wrong and even fluffy clouds were making me angry.

First of all, my printer ran out of ink in the middle of putting together a final project. No big deal. I went to Staples to get a refill. Guess how much that jank cost? $89. SERIOUSLY? Come on, America. It's 2011. Can't we figure out a way to make something as menial as INK affordable? But I needed it, so I bought it.

This picture is misleading. It does not, in fact, come with black ink.

I get home, install the new cartridge and then try to print off some pages. PRINTER IS OUT OF INK error message. I try again. And again. DON'T TELL ME YOU'RE OUT OF INK, I JUST REPLACED YOUR STUPID INK! So I run the diagnostic and apparently the color cartridge I bought doesn't come with black ink. Wait, so I paid $90 and you don't even come with black? The most BASIC and widely used color? THAT MAKES SENSE.

At this point, I'm furious. During my first trip to Staples I battled some horrific traffic, because not only was it the start of rush hour, but Asheville has some major construction happening on that side of town. My gas tank was on empty from my weekend trip to Aiken, and I was just not a happy camper.

So I went BACK to Staples, coasting as much as possible on empty. I found the black ink I needed for an additional $15. From now on I'm going to fill my printer with berries and make my own damn ink.

So my Monday evening sucked. I didn't even go running because I'm lazy. I bought beef jerky instead.

What I will be doing for graduation ▲

Monday, April 11

One benefit of having a mother with OCD tendencies is I NEVER have to wonder what extra time will be spent doing because she's PLANS everything.

If anyone wants to find me on graduation weekend...here is how to do it. Click to enlarge.

Happy Saturday! ▲

Saturday, April 9

Mike and I did not accomplish the room cleaning today like we'd anticipated, BUT we did get a nice run in this morning AND ate ourselves into oblivion tonight with some delish alfredo pasta...there were also some Nieman Marcus homemade cookies involved.

But the point of this post is...I am DELIGHTED to bring you my first EVER video blog! YAY! Sorry I look discombobulated and don't have any make-up on but I hope you enjoy it and laugh at my awkwardness.

Oh, and sorry for how I tend to cover up the microphone. First Vlog...gimme a break!

On the road again ▲

Friday, April 8

This year-long LDR makes for a lot of weekends spent behind the wheel of my beloved Wanda the Honda CR-V. Hardly 3 years old and already more than 60,000 miles on her. She's a trooper. And it's worth it.

This is a pre-scheduled post because today after work I'm heading back down to Mike's to spend some QT with him and my babies. We're going to spend the weekend organizing one of the rooms in his house because TRUST ME, it's a disaster. Maybe I'll take some before/after pictures.  Anyway, here's a picture of Bella on the weekend I got her when she was just a wittle baby, three years ago! It was the first time she did "shake" after a day of training.

And this is babygirl now

50 lbs of clumsy, dumb, slobbery love.

Running ▲

Thursday, April 7

This is a moderately pointless post. I just wanted to DOCUMENT the fact that I ran 2 miles in just under 22 minutes this afternoon. Yay me. Now if I could just change my diet...hmmmmmmm.

Here's an old self portrait from about 2 years ago. I'm sort of making duck face. This is near Alligator Point in north Florida.

Awkward and Awesome Thursday ▲

Awkward

- Going to Dick's sporting goods to try and find suitable running clothes and immediately being drawn to the brightly colored Nike shorts. I seriously spent like 20 minutes deciding which pair I could afford to buy, and then the sales guy comes over to ask if I need help.
...NO, I NEED YOUR SHORTS TO NOT BE SO EXPENSIVE. I said I was just looking and then went to go find spandex pants but he still sort of hovered around me like he was waiting for me to ask a question. It's like he could sense that a sports store is like a foreign country in my world. SO WHAT IF I HATE EXERCISE AND AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE????

- People who don't speak English calling the office and expecting for me to understand them. Actually, that's not awkward, that's annoying.

- Losing 7 lbs, falling off the diet bandwagon, and gaining it all back. I guess the pint of ice cream I just polished off doesn't do much for my figure. Anyone want to package up some will power and send it my way?

Awesome

- My mom and I signed up to run an 8K in June.

- I ran a 9 minute mile yesterday...big improvement. My next goal is to run 2 miles in 20 minutes. Like I've said before...only extra terrestrials and bionic FREAKS can run an 8 minute mile.

- FRIENDS RE-RUNS!!!!!

- I decided that if I get 100 followers by my birthday on the 20th that I'll host a super awesome giveaway!

Animal Cruelty ▲

Wednesday, April 6

This video was taken 17 years ago, but the lady who yells, "kill the kitty" is now the shelter's director. She made over 100 grand last year.

Why I'll never have a real job ▲

Hope my editor isn't reading this...

I will NEVER be able to have an office job. My attention span and inability to sit still for extended periods of time render me USELESS in an office environment. For example, today (when I should have been finishing an article I'm writing) I took pictures of myself with Photobooth (which also happens to be an excellent argument for why offices should NOT have Mac computers for their employees, especially ones bitten by the procrastination bug).

Mike LOVES when I make this face...lol

Why getting healthy sucks ▲

Tuesday, April 5

1. Buying healthy food is much more expensive than buying unhealthy foods.

2. I'm a picky eater and much more unhealthy food pleases my palate.

3. Cute work out clothes cost SO MUCH MONEY.

4. I don't like being sweaty.

Me and some sisters in downtown Tallahassee after happy hour. I'm in the middle.

Sorority Shenanigans ▲

Monday, April 4

So, Saturday was Tori's birthday and also the sorority's formal, so my ladies enlisted me to take pictures for them before hand. Here are some of my faves.

I hung out with them until it was time for everyone to head to the function and then I went out with some other friends, but I really wished I wasn't considered an alum just for one night!
