I have a confession ▲

Friday, February 10

I use the Thesaurus. A lot.

I do so many things during the day, from waking up and getting dressed, to feeding the animals, and then getting from the house, into my car, and out of the driveway without hitting Mikes truck (more than once)...it's a miracle I make it to work alive and generally on time. You'll have to forgive me if I'm not consistently exploding with new words to use. Although I like to think I boast a fairly broad vocabulary. (Raise your hand if you think the word "boast" is overplayed).

People poke fun at those who (whom?...I don't effing know...) are moderately dependent on the synonyms feature in Microsoft Word, and you know what? I don't hate it. And I use it. Often. I'm all about right clicking and finding a better way to say what I'm tryna say...knowhatImean?

Now, I'm NOT endorsing turning in a paper to your professor made up entirely of words that you are unable to define. That's ridiculous. But so is using the word "excellent" 45 times in the same paragraph.

Let's move on. I have NO idea where this train of thought came from. I LIKE SYNONYMS.

I spent $220 at PetSmart on Thursday on flea medicine ALONE. Not on any cute toys or anything like that. I bought 6 months of K9 Advantix for Bella and 3 months each of Frontline Plus for Buffalo and Moose. I need to buy stock in that crap. OUTRAGEOUS.

This stupid plastic keychain saved me a whopping 15 cents. I wasted my ink filling out the "application" so that they can send my animals birthday cards because I don't get enough junk mail already. THANKS FOR NOTHING PETSMART.
While we're talking about my money-guzzling pets, here are some pictures of Moose being adorbs:
Does she or does she not look like she is the feline version of a trucker? THAT BIG OL' BELLAYYYY.

Happy Friday, Y'all.

  1. She looks so much like my Bella! But Bella is way fatter. She just has more to love.

  2. Haha! I love my thesaurus! I have one in book form, and I LOVE IT! : )

Our dog loves to suck money out of us...she's allergic to EVERYTHING. She has to have this ridiculously expensive lamb and potato food that costs us $75/bag. Too bad we love her so much!

  4. so stinking cute. damn that's a lot of money on flea medicine... at least you remember to give it your pets. I'm a bad puppy mom - I can't remember the last time I put it on Ollie (two months ago? three?) and we definitely have it in the house - I'm just a space cadet!

  6. Can I tell you a little secret?!

Have you ever used comfortis? It's an amazing flea medication you get at vet offices. The main ingredient in Comfortis is Spinosad. It is a natural insecticide that is used in gardens and they use it to kill fleas on dogs! not sure about cats!

You can actually buy a garden spray from hardware stores or online that is spinosad and put it on your pets food and it works just the same. I know it sounds crazy, but if you research it you will see that spinosad is perfectly safe! We put it on our pet's food about once a month.

To start them you just start with a small amount (1 cc for a large dog) and check to see if the fleas are gone, if not put another cc on their food the next day. Be sure to keep up with how much you use overall so that the next month you can just use the whole amount at one time. After the first couple of times if you notice the fleas aren't gone just keep adding a little more each day until they are gone.

Spinosad only kills adult fleas so you have to give them a bath initially to get all the eggs off. It works great and if you are up to trying it... it can save you TONS!

We also use ivermectin instead of giving our dogs heartgard. much cheaper. Some vets recommend using ivermectin if people can't afford to pay for heartworm treatment. It is used as a long term treatment and as a preventative. You should research them!
