Happy Belated Holidays ▲

Mike and I went to my mom's house in Chesapeake for Christmas this year. He was able to take two days off work, so we had a full week of vacation.
We spent some time driving around Chesapeake and Portsmouth, scoping out potential neighborhoods for when we move. It was entirely too overwhelming. I've never thought about it before, but there are SO many places to live in any given town. Hundreds of neighborhoods - old and new. There is no way to see them all, so how do you know if you pick the right place to live? We were initially a little discouraged because the cost of living is so much higher in Virginia than in South Carolina. The area is also much larger than what we are accustomed to.
In an effort to move past this preliminary discouragement, we spent our holiday over-indulging (like we usually do), drinking beer and wine, eating desserts and hearty dinners, and trying to enjoy the last few days of calm before the storm. After New Years, I received my final job offer and the planning and packing began. The ant hill had been disturbed. Our house has been in chaos for the past two weeks. We went on our first house hunting trip. I start work in a week.
Life is crazy. Good.
