A leetle gardeeen vol. 2

So it's been about a month since I got the yard looking all fancified, and about a week ago the garden suffered its first casualties. I noticed that one of my lavender plants was not fairing well, and within the weeks that followed, all 5 of them slowly died. I don't know whether I over watered them or whether the fact that I planted them during a heat wave and drought might have contributed. All of the other flowers are thriving, including my slow growing azaleas. So I don't know what happened. =(

I dug them up and had a short funeral for them, and then headed off to Lowe's to find some replacements. As much as I wanted to have lavender, I didn't want to chance it dying again. I decided to get some pretty (and cheap) blossoms instead. I made sure they could take full sun, and even found some that bloom from spring through the fall. Hooray!

Some of the flowers in the bed by our front porch are also sprouting new blooms, so we've got quite a festival of color in our front yard and me loves it. The bright pink and purple ones with yellow centers were planted from seeds, so I had NO idea what they were going to turn out like!

I love my flowers. I want to clip some to put them in a vase, but I love them like they're my children and don't have the heart to kill them...pathetic. I whipped out the Macro lens on Sunday and took some shots after I watered them in the afternoon.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed my little garden tour. =)

  1. I cannot for the life of me keep anything alive outside. My boyfriend is still trying to salvage my garden. Yours looks amazing!

  2. Wow! These photos are amazing! How did you make it look so 3D?? LOL. I recently moved into a new home and the yard work is outrageous right now. A garden feels forever away :(

So glad you shared yours with me thought! Beautiful!

  3. They are so vibrant and the photography is just stunning. My dad recently planted a hibiscus tree in our front yard and he feels the same way about putting the flowers in a vase. That tree's his new baby!

  4. These pictures are amazing girl! I LOVE taking pictures of flowers, and feel the exact same about anything I can actually keep alive! Your plants are beautiful :)
